The site of Olympia, in a valley in the Peloponnesus, has been inhabited since prehistoric times. In the 10th century B.C., Olympia became a centre for the worship of Zeus. The Altis – the sanctuary to the gods – has one of the highest concentrations of masterpieces from the ancient Greek world. In addition to temples, there are the remains of all the sports structures erected for the Olympic Games, which were held in Olympia every four years beginning in 776 B.C.
With more than 2.000 olive groves and a further 1.500 new olive trees being planted within the PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) area of Olympia thus ensuring the quality and authenticity of the products. Sample olive oils, wines, local recipes and entertain yourself with locals performing syrtaki and other folk dancing…
At your arrival, a private taxi with an executive assistant will wait for you at Athens International airport, holding a sign with your name on it. Meet and assist and transfer to your hotel. Check in at your hotel and the rest of the day is at your disposal for a first meeting with capital of Greece, Athens.
Breakfast at your hotel. Afterwards we are leaving from Athens and through a magnificent road tour approximately 2 hours we are going to arrive to ancient Olympia. First stop will be the visit of the archaeological site. Continue with the archaeological Museum and the ancient Stadium. Our guide will explain all the myth and details. After our visit we will have the transfer to our hotel at Olympia village. Free time to relax or to have a walking though the Olympia village streets. Dinner and overnight.
Breakfast at our hotel. Today we are leaving from Olympia. Before our return to Athens, we will have a stop at Magna Grecia farm for a guided visit. At the farm there will be welcome drinks offered, briefing on olive production, a visit to production area and tasting of olives etc. A traditional lunch will follow with folklore dancing (optional). Afternoon we continue our road back to Athens. Arrival at our hotel in Athens. Rest of the ay is at your disposal.
Breakfast at your hotel. After breakfast, you will be picked up for the half day regular city tour of Athens. This tour gives you an opportunity to observe the striking contrasts that make Athens such a fascinating city. Our expert guides will take you to see the Panathenaic Stadium where the first Olympic Games of modern times were held in 1896 (short stop). Continue and pass by the Temple of Olympian Zeus, the Hadrian’s Arch, the Parliament and the memorial to the Unknown Soldier, the Academy, the University, the National Library, the Constitution Square (Syntagma). On the Acropolis visit the Architectural Masterpieces of the Golden Age of Athens: The Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion and finally “the harmony between material and spirit”, the monument that “puts order in the mind”, the Parthenon. City tours is ending at your hotel. Rest of the day at your disposal for rest and further exploration of Athens city.
Breakfast at our hotel. Free time till the appointed time will have private transfer to Athens International airport to pick your flight back home.
