Greek Cuisine – Athens, Syros, Mykonos, Santorini | 10 days

10 days and 9 nights in Athens and the islands of Syros, Mykonos and Santorini.

What better way to learn about Greek culture than through food! Taste the famous Greek “mezedes”, learn about local products in each destination and create your own Greek dishes with our cooking lessons!

Day 1: Athens 

Upon arrival in Athens meet your travel assistant, transfer for dinner at Athens Riviera restaurant. Afterwards, transfer to a hotel and overnight in Athens.

Day 2: Athens

Breakfast at hotel and transfer to meeting point of walking Food tour at Melina Statue. Lunch included. Explore different neighborhoods, ranging from working-class havens to boutique boulevards. Hear how Athens was transformed from a town into a modern city, all in the shadow of its own ancient glory. Immerse yourself in the world of Greek food. The smells and the range of products in specialty food shops and the bustle of open-air markets will all make your taste buds sing! Sample unique local delicacies from small-batch olive oils and feta cheese to scrumptious. Greek meze and bougatsa (cream-filled phyllo pastry). At noon return by bus to hotel for rest.
In the evening enjoy our  Athens by Night Tour with dinner and a folklore show. Return to hotel and overnight.

Day 3: Athens – Syros (Apano Meria)

Breakfast and check out. Depart from hotel by bus to Piraeus port to embark the ferry to Syros. Upon arrival meet with your local assistant and have a city tour of Ermoupolis and medieval Syros, lunch and transfer to your hotel. Check in and time for leisure. In the evening, dinner at a local restaurant and overnight in Syros.

Day 4: Syros

Breakfast and get ready for your Syros Food Tour (lunch included). Pick up from hotel in the morning and transfer to Ermoupolis. The tour starts by moving towards the suburbs of Syros Island, visiting the local production of various products, having the chance to see how they are produced and stored. A degustation will take place in every site. During our tour we will have the chance to see production of wine, tsipouro and raki, cheese, olive oil and local pastries and sweets (loukoumi).
Driving towards Ermoupolis we get the chance to see the best products of all Cyclades islands, concentrated in one special place. The owner of the delicatessen will give us an idea what Syros’ cuisine is all about, by giving us the chance to taste unique local traditional products. The tour aims to enable participants to taste local “mezedes” such as cheese, olives, sundried tomatoes, caper etc. and see how they could cook back home, “Greek” dishes with raw materials available in their homelands. All special ingredients are available in this traditional delicatessen. Our food tour ends with a specially produced meal in a local traditional restaurant. Return to hotel and time at leisure.
In the evening pick up from hotel for dinner at a local restaurant and overnight in Syros.

Day 5: Syros – Mykonos 

Check out and transfer to  Syros port to embark on the sea jet to Mykonos. Upon arrival at Mykonos port, transfer to hotel and after lunch, we’ll enjoy a bus tour of Mykonos Island.
We will begin the tour by exploring the island on the coach, visiting some of the most famous beaches and the inner landscape. We will see the fishermen and their “kaikis” (wooden fishing boats), small private chapels and houses built in typical Cycladic style. We will stop in the second main village of Mykonos, Ano Mera. Just 6km from town, where  the guests have enough free time for a stroll around the traditional square. We will visit the monastery of Ano Mera and learn about its history. Next stop is the Kalafatis Beach, where there is time to relax a little and have a coffee or a refreshment (not included in the price), before going back to begin the walking tour. Start the town tour by walking the small and narrow streets, where we have many opportunities to take photographs of the Labyrinth and beautiful snow-white houses… this is Mykonos town. Of course, we will see the famous windmills and end the walking tour at Little Venice.
In the evening, transfer to a local restaurant for dinner. Overnight in Mykonos.

Day 6: Mykonos

Pick up from your hotel and transfer to the venue for cooking lessons, lunch included. Afterwards, return to hotel and time at your leisure. In the evening pick up from hotel and transfer to a local restaurant for dinner. Overnight in Mykonos.

Day 7: Mykonos – Santorini

Breakfast and check out. Early transfer to the port to embark on the ferry to Santorini Island. Upon arrival, meet with your local assistant. Enjoy the half-day island tour, lunch at a traditional restaurant and transfer to your hotel. Time at your leisure. In the evening, dinner at a local restaurant and overnight in Santorini.

Day 8: Santorini

Breakfast and visit at a local winery for wine tasting. Afterwards, enjoy a cooking lesson and eat your creations! Return to your hotel and time at your leisure. In the evening dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight in Santorini.

Day 9: Santorini – Piraeus – Athens

Breakfast and check out. Transfer to Santorini port to embark on the ferry to Piraeus port. Lunch on board. Upon arrival transfer for dinner and then to your hotel in Athens. Overnight in Athens.

Day 10: Athens

Breakfast, check out and transfer to Athens’ airport to catch your return flight. If the departure time permits we suggest a guided visit to the Acropolis’ sacred rock. (Inform us as soon as possible to revert with supplement for bus and tour guide).
